ADHD assessment for adults, teens and children
An ADHD assessment should answer the question properly, not just hand you a label or a checklist score. Ours is a comprehensive clinical assessment for adults, teens and children: a structured diagnostic interview, standardized rating scales, a careful developmental and functional history, and screening for the things that can look like ADHD or sit alongside it.
You’ll leave with a written report that explains what we found, how we got there, and what we recommend. It’s written for you and your physician together, so it can support next steps like medication conversations, workplace or academic accommodations, or a Disability Tax Credit application. We’ll walk you through it in a feedback session, and you can ask us anything.
Intake and questionnaires
Step one
Once you book, we send you a secure intake form and a set of standardized rating scales to complete at home. If someone who knew you as a child is willing to fill one in too, that helps, but it isn’t required. For children and teens, a parent completes the rating scales alongside the young person, and we ask for a teacher’s perspective where possible.
The clinical interview
Step two
A structured diagnostic interview with a registered clinician, in person in St. John’s or by secure video anywhere in Newfoundland and Labrador. We go through your history, how symptoms show up now, and what else might be contributing.
Your report and feedback
Step three
You receive a full written report with your results, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations, then a feedback session to go through it together. Your report is yours to share with your physician, employer, or school.
Questions people ask
-
Plan for a few hours across two or three appointments: one for the clinical interview, one for feedback. Questionnaires are done at home beforehand.
-
No. You can book directly, and no family doctor is required to get started.
-
Yes. Parents complete rating scales alongside the young person, and we ask for a teacher’s perspective where possible. The report is written so it can go to the school and your family doctor.
-
Many extended health plans cover assessment by a registered social worker. Check your plan’s coverage for social work services, and we’ll give you a receipt with everything your insurer needs.
-
You get a full written report and a feedback session. If you want medication support or therapy afterwards, your report goes with you to your own provider or to our sister clinic, Flora Foundations.
-
Flora is the full-service clinic: assessment, medication management, and therapy under one roof. This clinic does one thing, ADHD assessment, and keeps it focused and quick.
-
We tell you. The report explains what we think is going on instead and where to go from there. Not every assessment ends in a diagnosis, and that’s the point of doing it properly.
